60 hp Computer and Systems Sciences. The course IB479C GCSB1 Global Challenges and Solutions in IT Business I is strongly recommended.
Reality meets academy in the two courses developed by IBM, Tieto, CGI, Accenture and DSV. Reality meets academy in the two courses developed by IBM, Tieto, Logica, Accenture and DSV. There are several reasons for this unique partnership between these companies, competing on the same market every day, and DSV. One is that almost all Application Development (AD) and Application Maintenance (AM) are done globally with a blend of on-shore, near-shore and offshore resources. Therefore, it is important for DSV and the companies that students entering the job market have a clear understanding of how it is “out there”. This shortens the gap from being a student to becoming a productive coworker. Another reason is to give the students an understanding of the complexity and challenges between theories and operational business.
The first course, “Global Challenges and Solutions in IT Business 1 - Application Development and Maintenance using world-wide IT resources”, enabled you to make the whole journey from customers considering using world-wide IT resources to the “Steady State” of maintaining an application portfolio. This course, “Global Challenges and Solutions in IT Business 2 - From a viable proposal to a successful delivery”, focuses on the complexity of how to keep a contract with a duration of three to seven years profitable for both the IT supplier and the customer. There are several challenges that have to be identified, assessed, priced, and mitigated to keep both parties in line with their expectations during a long business relationship.
In the first lecture you will meet Logica´s Director of Application Lifecycle Management (APL) and a Senior Manager from Accenture. They will, together with an associated professor from DSV, introduce you to the course. The following eight lectures will be given by a team of APL experts from Logica. Then, Accenture will share their knowledge in the final three lectures. Needless to say, DSV provides you with the academic resources to critically evaluate real life business versus theories. Should you find gaps between the operational APL and the theories, all you need to do is ask; the people who know will be there for you.
The course focuses on:
- Application Management from a business perspective.
- "Bid Smart" - Solution Design of a blended delivery.
- "Bid Smart" - Application Portfolio Analysis.
- Business driven transition.
- Case studies.
