Requirements

90 hp Computer and Systems Sciences with at least:

Short description

The major emphasis is put on the Internet and network security, which includes some cryptography, threats and threat models, secrecy and privacy, message integrity, types of intrusion, packet sniffing, spoofing, authentication protocols, authorization, access control, secure services, IPSec, firewalls and security incidents and responses.

Aim

On successful completion of this course students should:

1) Have a deep and comprehensive understanding of security threats, mechanisms, protocols and services in computer networks.

2) Be able to analyze and evaluate the implementation and functioning of network applications and decide on their suitability from the security point of view.

3) Be able to design and implement applications that provide or use security services in computer networks.
